Recent Work From the Workshop

Cylinder rebuilds, bespoke builds, welded stainless assemblies and machined components — all photographed as they left our Newton Aycliffe workshop.

Every photograph here is our own work, not a stock image. If something looks like the job you have, mention it when you get in touch and we can tell you what it involved.

Bespoke hydraulic cylinder with welded manifold blocks and formed steel pipework built by JWB Engineering

Bespoke Hydraulic Cylinder Build

A hydraulic cylinder built from scratch to replace an obsolete original, with welded manifold blocks at both ends and formed steel pipework run along the barrel. Machined, welded and assembled in our Newton Aycliffe workshop.

Batch of six rebuilt hydraulic cylinders with rod eye bearings on a pallet at JWB Engineering

Batch Cylinder Rebuild

Six hydraulic cylinders rebuilt as a batch, each with new spherical rod-eye bearings, resealed and port-plugged ready for installation. Working through a set together keeps the specification identical across the machine.

Stainless hydraulic cylinders with welded manifold blocks and bronze bushed rod eyes

Cylinders with Integrated Manifolds

Stainless hydraulic cylinders assembled with welded manifold blocks and integral pipework, finished with bronze-bushed rod eyes. The porting is machined on our CNC mill and the pipework TIG welded in-house.

TIG welded stainless steel flanged assembly with branch connection welded by JWB Engineering

TIG Welded Stainless Assembly

A stainless flanged body with a welded branch connection, TIG welded to control heat input and distortion. The flange faces were machined after welding so the assembly still seals correctly.

Machined hydraulic cylinder rebuild components including glands, bearing housing and nylon seal carriers

Cylinder Rebuild Component Set

A full set of machined components for a cylinder rebuild: flanged gland and end caps, a bearing housing, nylon seal carriers with new seals fitted, and turned studs. All made in-house rather than sourced to a part number.

Machined nylon seal carriers with new seals fitted beside steel flanges in the JWB Engineering workshop

Machined Nylon Seal Carriers

Nylon seal carriers turned and grooved to take new seals, shown alongside the steel flanges they locate into. Machining carriers in-house means an obsolete seal arrangement is no longer a reason to scrap a cylinder.

Precision machined steel flange with bolt hole pattern and matching turned studs

Machined Flange and Stud Set

A large steel flange with a machined spigot and bolt-hole pattern, turned and milled to drawing, with a matching set of turned studs and a bearing housing ring.

Stainless steel flange with machined integral hub and bored centre made by JWB Engineering

Machined Flange Hub

A stainless flange machined with a long integral hub and bored through, ready for welding into an assembly. Consistent bolt-hole positions and a clean sealing face are what let mating parts locate first time.

Machined stainless steel bearing housing with tapped ports and bolt holes

Machined Bearing Housing

A stainless bearing housing turned, bored and then drilled and tapped on the mill for its mounting and port positions. The kind of prismatic work our CNC mill handles alongside cylinder repairs.

Four refurbished hydraulic orbital motors on a workbench at JWB Engineering

Refurbished Orbital Motors

Four hydraulic orbital motors stripped, inspected, resealed and refurbished, returned cleaned and ready to fit. Refurbishment usually costs a fraction of replacement and avoids the lead time on obsolete units.
