The person quoting does the work
There is no sales layer here. When you ring, you speak to someone who will have the part in their hands, which means the assessment you get is the assessment that matters.

About JWB Engineering
60+ years of combined trade experience in hydraulics, machining and welding, working out of a single unit on Aycliffe Business Park.
JWB Engineering Ltd was incorporated in January 2025, but the experience behind it is considerably older than that. Between us we bring more than 60 years in the trade — time served on manual lathes, on hydraulic benches, and welding the kind of work that has to hold pressure and carry load. Setting up as JWB was about putting that experience under one roof and working directly for customers rather than through someone else's order book.
What we kept from that background is a particular way of working. Nothing gets quoted before it has been stripped and measured, because a hydraulic cylinder that looks like a seal job from the outside is quite often a rod and barrel job once it is open. You get told what we found, what it will cost, and what we would do if it were ours.
The other thing we kept is a bias towards making the part rather than ordering it. A great deal of the equipment we see is old, hard worked, and no longer supported by whoever originally built it. When the seal kit is not catalogued and the gland is not available at any price, having a lathe and a mill in the same building as the bench stops being a convenience and becomes the entire reason the machine goes back to work.
We are a small outfit and we are candid about what that means. We are set up for one-offs, repairs, bespoke builds and small batches — not for volume production runs. If your job is genuinely better suited to a bigger shop, we would rather tell you than take it on and let you down.

Four things that shape how a job runs here, and that we would want to know about a supplier before sending them anything.
There is no sales layer here. When you ring, you speak to someone who will have the part in their hands, which means the assessment you get is the assessment that matters.
We look for the route that keeps your existing component in service. When a part is genuinely beyond economic repair we say so, rather than charging for work that only delays the inevitable.
If we are waiting on a seal kit or a length of bar, we tell you. Jobs that are stopping a machine earning get prioritised, and we would rather give you an honest date than an optimistic one.
We are a unit on Aycliffe Business Park, not a national network with a local phone number. You can drive in, put the part on the bench and talk about it.
The honest version, so you can judge whether your job fits before you pick up the phone.
You are welcome to drop a part in during opening hours and talk it through in person — usually the fastest way to get a straight answer.
